Heart of Biddeford Celebrates 20th Birthday and Unveils New Brand Identity at Mechanics Park Event

Heart of Biddeford (HOB), the award-winning organization dedicated to revitalizing Biddeford’s downtown, is excited to announce a 20th Birthday Party on Wednesday, June 26, at 5 p.m. in Mechanics Park. This event marks the beginning of a new chapter for HOB as it celebrates 20 years of community-building and looks towards the future with a refreshed brand identity.

Event Details:

Date: Wednesday, June 26, 2024

Time: 5:00 – 6:00 PM

Location: Mechanics Park, 12 Water Street, Biddeford, ME

Heart of Biddeford has evolved from a grassroots movement into a significant community influencer and the birthday party will celebrate that transition with remarks from key community members, a showcase of the updated brand, and opportunities for attendees to learn more about how they can get involved with HOB’s initiatives. There will be refreshments that highlight long-time and newer local businesses, and an invitation to stay for the first night of Music in the Park, which begins at 6 p.m.

Delilah Poupore, Executive Director of Heart of Biddeford. “As we celebrate 20 years and look to the future, it’s important that we clearly communicate who we are, what we do, and how we support the diversity and vibrancy of our community. Our brand update is not just a new look; it’s a renewed commitment to fostering a thriving downtown for all.”

Heart of Biddeford’s President, Joe McKenney, grew up in Biddeford and is one of the community’s most involved residents. “We welcome the whole community to join us for this event. It’s important to me as a life-long Biddeford resident that we celebrate all the volunteers and partners who have brought us to this point today, while also keeping on eye on the important work ahead.”

Through the leadership of HOB’s Strategic Communications Committee, the updated brand features a vibrant palette inspired by the Victoria Gordon-painted mural in the HOB office. Committee member Kanya Zillmer of Seven Tree Co. used the mural for inspiration as she created a hand-drawn illustration and custom-designed font, creating a friendly and approachable look that embodies the spirit of downtown Biddeford. The heart symbol remains central, symbolizing the vibrancy, vitality, and community spirit that are core to HOB’s mission.

Strategic Communications Committee chair Briana Campbell, co-owner of Time & Tide Coffee, invites the whole community to attend and to get more involved: “With this brand update, we want to convey the idea, the feeling, that when our downtown shines, our entire community thrives – and I believe Heart of Biddeford is key to that.”
