Description

The Biddeford Mills Museum works to preserve the rich heritage of Biddeford's historic mill complex in honor of all who worked there, and to strengthen the community’s knowledge of mill history.

The goals are of the Biddeford Mills Museum are to:

  • **Preserve History**: Document and maintain the mill heritage of Biddeford and nearby areas.
  • **Educate and Engage**: Offer educational programs, community events, and interactive exhibits for people of all ages.
  • **Use Technology**: Incorporate science and technology in exhibits and research to enhance learning and engagement.

The Museum collects, restores, and displays artifacts to help people understand and appreciate the area's history, its relevance today, and its benefits for future generations.

Walking tours of the mills are available at various times throughout the year for both groups and individuals. These tours are often guided by former mill workers and allow visitors to see the unique architecture of a cotton house, walk among the towering walls of a weave shed, and visit the underground canals where the Saco River once powered these historic textile mills.
