Biddeford-Saco Memorial Day Ceremony

Heart of Biddeford is once again coordinating Memorial Day activities for the communities of Biddeford and Saco, and after consultation with local Police, Public Works, and public officials, we have decided not to hold a parade due to ongoing construction and detours. Instead, we will hold a ceremony this year in honor of Memorial Day.

In order to hold a meaningful tribute that engages the community, we will do the following:

• At 9:00 a.m. Biddeford and Saco Police Departments will escort a small contingent (Grand Marshall, Veterans organization leadership, Chaplain, Guest Speaker, Mayors) from the train station to the bridge. Police will stop traffic for 3-5 minutes while a wreath is dropped in the river and taps is played.
  • That small contingent will continue on to the 10 a.m. ceremony at Waterhouse Field in Biddeford.

• 10:00 a.m. Ceremony at Waterhouse Field
  Veterans organizations, marching bands and other traditional parade entries are invited to join us at Waterhouse Field. We will hold a parade march around the interior of the field, and will chose various bands and groups to offer performances.
