There is much to do in this city by the falls! Biddeford native Emma Bouthillette offers up an idea for you to take your honey out on a date night to remember, but there is so much more to discover. Find your own adventure by exploring HeartofBiddeford.org

Biddeford’s beverage and food scene has garnered national attention. With so many treats available sun up to sun down, sometimes it’s hard to decide what to do and where to go. So, I’ve put together a little Biddeford amuse-bouche to enjoy with your significant other. Feel free to get as dressy as you’d like, but since this date night requires some walking, I do suggest practical shoes.

Park on lower Main Street to start your evening at Magnus on Water. Situated just before the bridge into Saco, the patio at Magnus offers views of the river and mills. People watching paired with a carefully curated cocktail is a great way to start the night.

After the cocktails, stroll past Pepperell Mill Campus to Cowbell Burger Bar. Here you might order another cocktail at the bar and ponder their appetizer menu. I suggest tapping into Biddeford’s Franco-American heritage by sharing an order of poutine Quebec-style.

The main course can be found just past McArthur Library at Yeto’s where they say southern charm marries Italian comfort. This husband and wife-owned eatery mashes up two cuisines that you may think don’t pair well, but they make magic in that small kitchen. Cozy up in their small dining room and dive into a pasta dish (with an impressive variety of gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan options).

While Yeto’s may leave you feeling satiated, mosey your way back down Main Street. By the time you reach the mill block again, I bet you will have made room for at least a small cone from Sweetcream Dairy. With locally sourced cream and fresh flavor ingredients, it’s hard to resist their unique frozen concoctions.

The night doesn’t end here though, continue your walk back toward Magnus, but veer left into the mill parking lot and follow signs for the River Walk. You’ll arrive on the pedestrian bridge that offers a beautiful view of the falls. Maybe you’ve timed it all just right and the moon is shimmering over the Saco River offering a perfect end to a lovely date night.
