There is much to do in this city by the falls! Biddeford native Emma Bouthillette offers up an idea for a day downtown with your family, but there is so much more to discover. Find your own adventure by exploring HeartofBiddeford.org

Picture it – you’re sipping freshly brewed coffee as you greet the morning and then you hear, “What are we going to do today? I’m bored.” There is absolutely no reason to be bored on any given day in Biddeford! So load up the minivan and let’s get some locally roasted coffee from Time & Tide.

The kids will love Reilly’s Bakery because any great adventure must start with the best donuts in town. My personal favorite is the old-fashioned chocolate covered donut, but the honey dipped is a close runner up. Take the goodies over to the park by Biddeford Savings so you can gobble them up without getting powdered sugar all over the car.

Once your squad is full, it’s back in the minivan! From downtown, it’s just a short drive to Clifford Park. While the park has a vast network of trails with some difficult terrain, the story book trail is the perfect walk in the woods for little legs (just ask my corgi!). After the hike, the park has a small playground, basketball court, tennis court, and skate park to burn off some more energy with fun play.

Take a second for a quick tick check before piling into the minivan and back towards Main Street. Endless adventures await in the children’s room at McArthur Library. The staff at McArthur have a knack for helping everyone find just the right book based on interests and other favorite stories. They also offer young reader challenges and great youth programs during the summer and all year long, so don’t forget to check out the posted flyers.

Energy might be waning, but there’s one last stop to check out. Newly opened Klassically Kute Designs has attire and accessories for children from brands like Pete & Lucy, RuffleButts & RuggedButts, and more. Owner LaKosha Evans founded the boutique inspired by her twins, so I’m sure she can help find a new outfit for another adventure.

While there is still more to explore in Biddeford, it might be time at this point to head home for lunch or a nap. To ward off any future moments of boredom, be sure to check out other youth programs downtown offered by Engine and Mill Studio Arts so the fun can continue with a side of learning.
